Virtual Performance...area Music Educators!!

My friend and colleague Kaitlyn Adams, CHS Choir, typed this up...I see no reason to change a thing!

TV 9 & 10 2020 Commencement

Hello, fellow music educators!

I am writing today on behalf of 9 & 10 News. My band colleague Mike Filkins was asked by 9 & 10 to produce a virtual performance for their 2020 Commencement Ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 30th from noon to 2 pm honoring graduates from their viewing area.

We decided that rather than this be a Cadillac area project, all music teachers within the viewing area should be invited to join. Our school year was disrupted in a major way, and our kids miss us as much as we miss them.

Mike was told that a finished video would need to be to 9 & 10 by May 27th. This will require a quick turn around. All video submissions will need to be in by Sunday the 24th.

Mike is working with some others as I type to build youtube conductor tracks for us. The piece he chose is Never One Thing by local composer and performer May Erlewine. He already has blessings and full permission obtained from May, her managers, and Earthworks Music. Never One Thing is a story of resilience inspired by the Walt Whitman verse; “I am large, I contain multitudes.”

More details will be sent within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, give the piece a good listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH0qrHdb8jg

MSVMA friends, please share this with your elementary music teachers who may not be members. Mike is working on communications with MSBOA.

Yours,

Kaitlyn Adams
